There are several bad sectors and the Bios no longer picks it up, I'm having to plug it in after the computer is logged into windows just to get it to show, up. Try playing a movie or game and randomly you will crash as it hits those bad sectors.
Seagate recommended updating the firmware but if you can't get it to show up in Bios you can't attempt to scan and fix bad sectors or upgrade the firmware. Avoid This Hard Drive. They were designed to fail.

It seem disk models and manufactures used by TrekStor vary, which is no surprise. Therefore I have externally identical disk enclosures with three different models of disks due making three separate purchases over few months.
I prefer fixing it once and for all by firmware upgrade. CC44 Seagate and Toshiba are fine, no need to update those. But how to upgrade firmware when disk is in external USB 3. Warranty from Seagate would be enough for me even with TrekStor warranty voided, but no luck with that either - disks are OEM versions so no warranty service available from Seagate. This leaves us only one option: Upgrade firmware over USB.
Luckily hdparm can do just that assuming this feature actually works. It might not. And when it doesn't work it will leave your hdd permanently inoperable. Same will happen if you flash wrong firmware so watch out.
